Breakfast with the Grinch
Enjoy breakfast with the Grinch at Granbery Methodist Church. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by contacting the City of Covington’s Parks and Recreation Department. All money collected will go toward the Alleghany Highlands Christmas Mother Program.
Cost: $10/person

Learn to Make Your Own Christmas Bow
Head over to Formals and Florals on Main Street in Covington where you can learn to make your own Christmas bow, the perfect addition to your holiday decorations.
Cost: Free

9:00am – 4:00pm
6th Annual Good News Bazaar
Be sure to check out the largest holiday craft show in the area. Free activities for the children to include a hay ride, petting zoo and crafts.

Creative Kids Drop-In
Children aged 5 months old – 2 years old can enjoy a 30 minute session of holiday themed music, stories and crafts with owner Angel Robertson at A1 Studios.

Do your holiday shopping at our local businesses and the craft show and then head over and drop them off at the Discovery Center while you enjoy a meal and return to beautifully wrapped presents ready to go under your tree.

Looking for that perfect Christmas tree for your home this holiday season. Be sure to stop by the Covington Farmers Market where the Alleghany High School FFA will be selling locally grown and freshly cut Christmas trees.

Bring the family down to R/C Covington Movies 3 to watch the Polar Express. Don’t forget to grab your free small drink and popcorn thanks to the Alleghany Highlands Healthy Youth Coalition and Alleghany Highlands Community Services Board.

Christmas Cookie Decorating
Satisfy your sweet tooth and stop by Patsy’s Studio on Main Street to decorate a Christmas cookie with the Alleghany/Covington 4H club, supplies sponsored by People’s Bank.
Cost: Free (while supplies last)

3:00pm – 5:00pm
Face Painting
While you are waiting for the parade to begin, stop in at Hot Watts Salon on Main Street to have your face painted with images of the season. Event sponsored by Highlands Community Bank.

3:00pm – 5:00pm
Carolers on Main Street
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the season as a community choir sings your favorite Christmas carols.
Cost: Free

4:30pm – while supplies last
Hot Chocolate Stations
Stay warm while waiting on the parade to begin and stop by one of our free hot chocolate stations along the parade route. Stations can be found along Main Street and Maple Avenue.
Locations: Mountain Air, Jay’s Trading Post, Alleghany Floral
